Maurizio Sarri cut an animated figure at the club's Cobham training ground as the Blues gear up to face Tottenham at Stamford Bridge on Thursday. The two London rivals meet in the second leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final with Tottenham holding a narrow lead following a 1-0 win in the first leg. Chelsea will be without Juventus striker Gonzalo Higuain as his deal was not done in time to be eligible but Sarri will be hoping Eden Hazard, Willian and Pedro can provide the quality to fire them to a domestic final. Sarri publicly questioned the motivation of his players after a 2-0 defeat to London rivals Arsenal in the Premier League last week. But any suggestions that players would now down tools under the Italian appeared to be quashed with a high-intensity training session on Wednesday. Chelsea face the prospect of needing to overturn a 1-0 lead to secure a spot in the final against Manchester City - who go into the second leg against Burton with a 9-0 first leg lead. Despite closing in on a huge derby match, Sarri's pre-match press conference was dominated by Hazard and whether the club have managed to convince him to sign a new deal.'I know very well he is discussing with the club but I don't know anything else at the moment,' explained Sarri. 'I don't think he's decided if he wants to stay here or wants another experience at another club. 'I think he has to do more because the potential is higher than the performances. He needs to respect himself. You know very well that Eden is a wonderful player but he's an individual player. He's an instinctive player.'For him it's very difficult to play in only one position. He likes very much to go in the direction of the ball. It's very difficult for him to play as a striker and a winger. He wants to play everywhere on the pitch.'
