Former Chelsea defender Ashley Cole marked his return to English football with a goal in Derby County's FA Cup fifth round defeat against Brighton and Hove Albion at the weekend. It was his first ever goal in the competition, which was somewhat surprising given how many times he's lifted the trophy. However, he won't have the chance to add another FA Cup winner's medal to his list of accolades as his header was ultimately in vain as the Premier League side overcame the Championship promotion hopefuls 2-1. Given Frank Lampard is in charge of the Rams, Mason Mount and Fikayo Tomori are on loan there and now that Cole has made the move to Pride Park, Blues fans have even more reason to see how the side get on between now and the end of the season. Some who watched the game on Saturday noticed something rather interesting about Cole's squad number. Throughout his career at Chelsea, Arsenal, LA Galaxy, the England national team and even AS Roma, the left-back has predominately worn the number 3 shirt. That squad number was already taken by Craig Forsyth at Derby, meaning Cole had to select another and opted for no.26. It's not a number one would often associate with a left-back. But some Chelsea fans have taken to social media and suggested it has something to do with Cole paying homage to Blues legend and former captain John Terry as this was his shirt number during his days at Stamford Bridge.
