Things finally look to be going right for Tiemoue Bakayoko in Italy. Joining AC Milan on a season-long loan from Chelsea back in August, the midfielder endured a nightmare start to his career in Serie A. Highly criticised for his role in his new side's 3-2 defeat against Napoli after coming off the substitutes' bench back in August, the Frenchman spent the first couple of months watching on from the sidelines. However, injuries in the middle of the park presented the 24-year-old with an opportunity and he has grasped it with both hands. Now a key player for the Rossoneri after a difficult start for Gennaro Gattuso's team, Bakayoko hit the headlines on Tuesday evening after helping Milan advance to the Coppa Italia semi-finals after beating Napoli 2-0 at the San Siro. Speaking after the game, the manager hailed the ex-Monaco man and outlined how the player has improved drastically over the past few months. "I think he's an atypical deep-lying midfielder in modern football," he told Rai Sport (via Football Italia ). "He can turn the moves from defensive to attacking, he takes men on and always gets past them. "He has learned so much about transitions, as at the start he got it wrong most of the time, but today he can do diagonal runs and close off the passing channels." Milan do have the option to sign Bakayoko on a permanent deal in the summer if he continues to impress, with the player himself admitting at the end of December that he is happy at the San Siro.
